It's Coming up

Seattle was a great time!  We did a tour called, Savor Seattle, saw the space needle, went to the sculpture park (you can view pictures on my Zannel), hiked in Olympic Park, and enjoyed good food and good times with friends.  All in all a good trip and I nice time away from home.

My race is now only three weeks away.  We have a big practice this weekend, 8 mile bike, 3 mile run, 8 mile bike, 3 mile run, 8 mile bike, and three mile run.  These are not typos.  It is called a triple Brick.  A brick two sports right after one another.  Fun times!  It is in Tiburon, CA, which is beautiful.  I will see how it goes.

Trip up to Seattle

On Thursday I head to Seattle, WA to visit a friend. I have been to Seattle two times before, but on business. This trip will give the opportnity to see the city with locals as my tour guides. I need to read up on Seattle! What are the cool things to see/do?

Yanks

As you can see in my Zannel Widget, I bought “Yanks.” These are shoe laces to assist a tri-athlete during transitions. One does not have to worry about tying their shoe laces going from the swim to the bike or from the bike to the run (if you were wearing clip in bike shoes.) These help out with time in a number of ways. First, the obvious, there is no tying involved at all. The tightness is set ahead of time and the laces are elastic. Second, your body goes through a lot while racing in a triathlon. When exiting the water, you hands are close to fronzen since in the majority of triathlons you are swimming in open water. Tying shoes can be very difficult. With the Yanks, you do not have to worry about tying shoes. If you are going fro bike to run to change your shoes, you hands can be stiff from their position on the bike for the past hour or more.

I have raced in triathlons without the Yanks, so I will test them out to see the difference they actually make.

Blog Direction

I decided to use my blogging for two main topics:

1. Triathlons and Triathlon Training
2. Traveling and/or New Adventures

The first topic is becoming a huge part of my life since I recently just determined (well, narrowed it down to two) the Ironman I will race. It will be either Madison, WI in the fall of 2009 or Haikou, China 2010. I am leaning more towards China, but the cost and time in standing in the way.

Ironman China leads into my second topic, Traveling and New Adventures. Before now, I always thought of traveling as trips outside of the USA. Now, since real life started and the $$$ was cut off, my traveling consists of mainly in the USA and hopefully abroad. Being lucky and spoiled by spending time traveling abroad, I forgot all of the wonderful places there are right in my native country. On top of traveling, I moved to the West Coast, in a new city. San Francisco presents new adventures to me everyday.

Starting the day off Right

I went for a bike ride this morning with a friend over the Golden Gate Bridge into Sausalito and Tiburon.   It was misty and very cold, but we were determined to get a work out since we woke up early anyways!  Riding in the bay area is alway a very humbling experience, since most (well it seems like that anyways) of the residents are decent bikers.  The bikes they are riding are sleek and they bikers themselves are dress to the "biker" nines.

My friend and I seemed to be the worst ones out there.  I got a flat and she fell out her bike about 3 times.  I have to give it to her though, every time she feel off she got right back on.  I must add, she is a beginner.  I started biking again about a year ago.

First Post...In a long time

I am back! I have not been posting in a long time. I check out my old old old blog and decided to start a fresh, new one.
